Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide - starcraft 2 strategy guide zerg

Zerg Roach Rush

Well I would suggest a roach rush but you must know a few things first. This guide will show you how and when to rush with roaches and when you stay away from making roaches. The roach rush can be very powerful and effective if used right but it can also cost you the game if you use it wrong. Right the bat lets talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the roach unit, the roach does very high damage and is also a armored unit, so what does that mean? It means the roach will do very poorly against a marauder because the marauder does extra damage to armored units. The roach is very strong against a zealot, stalker, or marine. I would normally skip right over zerglings and build a roach warren as soon as the spawning pool is done.

Zerg Vs Protoss Basic Strategy

Make sure to scout around your base and just outside of your base. After you have established that the Protoss player is not going to proxy you will need to focus and countering the strategy your opponent decides to go with.
The most common Protoss strategy is to use zealots/sentries/stalkers. I would not recommend using very many zerglings because the sentries can use force fields to keep them away from melee range while they and the stalkers take them out with ranged attacks. Use your roach/hyrdalisk army to keep the Protoss player from expanding while you expand. After this it's a simple matter of producing units faster then the Protoss player can. A smart Protoss player will switch to colossus because they are very good against roaches and hydralisks. If you see this coming then you should pump out a few corruptors as they do very good damage to air units and colossus can be attacked by air and ground.

Using Roaches Effectively

The roach can be a very powerful unit if used right but it can also be a very poor choice against certain units. This guide will show you how to correctly use the roach when playing against Terran and Protoss. Also the roach does very high damage but its attack speed is slow. This is important because the Terran marauders and the Protoss stalkers both do extra damage to armored units. So this means if you see either marauders or stalkers then stay away from making the roach and tech to the hydralisk instead, roaches also do very poorly against an immortal. In most cases you can win the game very early with a mass roach attack.

Terran Micro Guide

OK so one of the big things that helped me improve my game was learning to micro efficiently. It gave me a huge advantage in battles over opponents who hadn't quite figured out how to command their units correctly. So I've written down a few things about microing that I've learned over the past couple months of playing beta. Note: I pretty much exclusively play Terran so this is kinda geared for them more so. Alright so for starters I always hot key my Command Center(s). I usally set my Command Center at Hot Key (4). This way I can leave keys 1,2, and 3 for specific unit groups. Hot Key (5) I use for my Barracks. This leaves me with 8,9. When I play Protoss I love to have a specific hot key just for my ghosts since their emp is so valuable against the protoss shields. It's important to memorize every single hot key for each units function.

Protoss Vs Terran Basic Strategy

Playing as Protoss against Terran can be a very difficult game as Terran is so unpredictable and hard to scout. Protoss must know what the enemy is doing so they can build the correct counter units but this is a challenge against good Terran players. This guide will show you how to beat a Terran player 1v1. If the Terran playing is using thors or tanks then build some immortals as they will dominate the thors and tanks without even taking that much damage. The Terran player might make an air attack with vikings and banshees. I wouldn't recommend building air units when playing against Terran because marines do decent damage to air units and that alone will be enough to defend against your void ray attack or even a few carriers. If you follow this guide and learn the strengths and weaknesses of your units then you should have not trouble beating a good Terran player.
